Tart Cherry 4:1 Extract is rich in antioxidants and very high in anthocyanins which give red, purple and blue fruits their dark pigmentation. It is ideal for those who want to decrease oxidative stress, inflammation, exercise induced muscle damage whilst improving performance, recovery and well-being.

Our Tart Cherry 4:1 Extract is derived from the whole fruit of Non GMO European Montmorency cherries, which are known for their bright red color and tart flavor. Tart Cherry has been shown to offer a broad spectrum of health-promoting properties but suggest its primary focus and benefits are in improving muscle function, reducing muscle damage, oxidative stress/inflammation and muscle soreness in athletes. It has also been shown to improve sleep quality by naturally increasing tryptophan and melatonin.

It takes 1kg of whole Montmorency cherries to make 250g of the Tart Cherry 4:1 Extract. The 4:1 ratio offers the most benefits without having to consume too much powder and calories compared to straight cherry juice/powder. The 4:1 ratio allows the phytonutrients to remain high which can decrease once the extract ratio moves beyond a 4:1 ratio.

How Does it Taste

It tastes sweet with a subtle tartness which is refreshing and flavoursome.

Other Benefits of Tart Cherry:

Various other studies have shown that Tart Cherry may assist with decreasing blood pressure, arthritis, hemoglobin A1C, Very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) and triglycerides/high-density lipoprotein (TG/HDL) in diabetic women and VLDL and TG/HDL in obese people. The main mechanism extrapolated from these results is due once again to the decreases in oxidative stress and inflammation (Kelley et al, 2018).

Tart Cherry has another unique benefit in that it may help combat gout as uric acid levels decrease.
